With the adoption of Bill 12<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>, several articles of the Civil Code of Quebec were added to provide for the rights of donor-conceived children. The law in Quebec now stipulates that donor-conceived children have access to certain information regarding their donor, which is retained by a register from the provincial government, titled the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quebec.ca\/en\/justice-and-civil-status\/legal-registers\/register-origin-information-procreation-involving-third-person\"><em>Register of Origin Information in Procreation Involving a Third Person<\/em><\/a>. The information collected and retained by the register includes the following from the donor:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First and last name<\/li>\n<li>Age<\/li>\n<li>Ethnic origins<\/li>\n<li>Civil status<\/li>\n<li>Level of education, diplomas, and field of study, if any<\/li>\n<li>Profession, if any<\/li>\n<li>Height<\/li>\n<li>Skin colour<\/li>\n<li>Eye colour<\/li>\n<li>Hair colour and texture<\/li>\n<li>Personality traits, special skills, preferences and hobbies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you or your child is a donor-conceived person and wants to learn about their rights, please contact us.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref1\" name=\"_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/csf.gouv.qc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Memoire-projet-loi-12.pdf\"><em>Loi portant sur la r\u00e9forme du droit de la famille et visant la protection des enfants n\u00e9s \u00e0 la suite d\u2019une agression sexuelle et des personnes victimes de cette agression ainsi que les droits des m\u00e8res porteuses et des enfants issus d\u2019un projet de grossesse pour autrui<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Part 3 Prior to June 6, 2025, children born from the contribution of an egg or sperm donor (namely, donor-conceived children) did not have the right to any information regarding the donor who contributed to their genetic makeup.
