The timing was not unexpected since the Swiss banks have already reviewed their client data-bases for purposes of the US legislation known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/Businesses\/Corporations\/Foreign-Account-Tax-Compliance-Act-FATCA\" target=\"_blank\">FATCA<\/a> so that the computerized exchange of data will not materially increase the workload of Swiss banks. Nor does the timing catch Canadian clients off-guard, since most Swiss banks have required their clients to become tax compliant before December 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The text of the agreement can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fin.gc.ca\/access\/switzerland-declaration-suisse-eng.asp\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><a href=\"mailto:dhsohmer@spiegelsohmer.com\">David H.
